The competition for the most eco-friendly and economical compact car heats up with the addition to the segment of this Renault Clio Expression Eco model.
The Expression Eco features a CO2 emissions quotient of 94g/km by means of an ‘Eco Pack’ option on the Clio’s Expression trim-level that costs just £250 in the U.K. market.
The 1.5 liter dCi diesel unit on the model has an output of 65 kW/89 PS (88 bhp) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque and the Clio Expression Eco comes with a stop/start system and additional engineering tweaks as well as 15-inch Aero wheels with low roll-resistance tires. The package delivers a fuel-economy rating of 3.6 liters/100 km or 78.4 mpg imperial. That means a range on this Clio of around 949 miles (or about 1,500 km).
The Clio Expression Eco is priced to sell at £12,450 and takes aim at more expensive competitors such as the Ford Fiesta Econetic and the VW Polo BlueMotion TDI, which have entry-level prices substantially higher than this Clio Expression Eco.
