Willie Nelson is on the road again bringing musicians and farmers together for a good cause. Along with Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, Nelson and the trio are planning the Farm Aid 2011 charity concert for farmers.
First formed in 1985 by Nelson, Young and Mellencamp, Farm Aid is all about raising awareness for farm families, the loss of farms and raising funds to keep farm families on their land. Matthews joined the organization in 2001.
As one of the longest running benefit concert series in the United Sates, it has raised more than $39 million. Every year a concert is held and this year it will take place on Aug. 13, at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my friends together in Kansas for the first time to honor family farmers,” Willie Nelson said. “Farm Aid celebrates the independent family farmers and ranchers who make this country strong, and we know we can only fix the challenges our country faces with the know-how of family farmers.”
Jason Mraz, Jamey Johnson and Jakob Dylan are just a few of the performers at this year’s concert.

There is a strong culture of agriculture here in Kansas—rural and urban—and a growing movement to bring good food to everyone.
