Today is Election Day in the United States and besides exercising our right to choose a leader, Californians can also exercise their right to know what’s in the food they consume.
Prop 37 would require food manufacturers to label their products if they are produced through genetic engineering. This means consumers would be able to make an informed decision a bout what they choose to eat. It has been proved through numerous studies that Genetically Engineered Foods (GMOs) use high amounts of pesticides and are linked to environmental problems such as biodiversity loss and land contamination.
This initiative is promoted by food groups and health experts.
