Emma Watson is quite the chatty interviewee, and in this morning’s WWD she revealed that she’d like to do an eco-conscious product range with current employer Lancôme. (In case you’ve been living under a well-scrubbed rock, Watson is the face of the brand’s latest fragrance, Lancôme’s Trésor Midnight Rose)
“I’m very interested in ethical clothing,” continued Watson, who revealed she’s talking to Lancôme executives about a possible eco-friendly project. “It’s very early stages,” said Watson.
Will this every actually happen? Probably not. Mostly because, as Cheryl has explained again and again, truly “eco” beauty products are few and far between. Products sans preservatives have a much shorter shelf life, which means even the eco-friendliest items have been spiked with something to make them last longer. That’s why you don’t see big skincare brands going “eco” the way fast fashion labels have. It’s just pretty impossible to accomplish.
Then again, Watson is a determined little girl. She’s already launched eco-friendly capsule collections with clothing labels People Tree and Alberta Ferretti. So who knows? Maybe Lancôme will go green after all.
