Established in 1994, World Vegan Day is celebrated to promote the habit of eating food that was made using entirely plant-based ingredients and no ingredients derived from animals.
People that choose vegan lifestyle have chosen to change their eating habits to a healthier, eco-conscious way based upon the consideration of the rights of animals that have the ability to sense. The veganism movement was prompted by Donald Watson, a British raised in a meat eaters family in the 1920s. Watson defined veganism as “a philosophy which excludes all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, the animal kingdom, and includes a reverence for life.”
Among those celebrities who have adopted Veganism as a way of life we can count Paul McCartney, Uma Thurman, Joaquin Phoenix and Ellen DeGeneres.
