Harrison Ford, the actor, the producer, is also an environmentalist. He is in fact vice- chair of Conservation International. Yesterday Ford appeared on FORTUNE”s Green stage with CI”s Chairman, Peter Seligmann, to talk about green issues.
The main topic was the “Direct Connection” between U.S. National Security, economic security and international conservation and why they work to help countries attach an economic value to natural resources. Ford said Conservation International wants to help leaders prevent crises by focusing on natural resources they might not have previously considered.
However, Mr. Ford explained he can”t take this issue to his movies because his work in show business is merely for entertainment. Unfortunately, “There are no great movies on global environmental issues” – he said.
