Is Ian Somerhalder the busiest guy in Hollywood? In addition to filming his hit show, The Vampire Diaries, the actor has also started his own conservation foundation, filmed a series for Planet Green, spoken before Congress about species preservation AND managed to snag an award at last night’s Teen Choice Awards (as choice TV actor in a Fantasy/Sci-Fi series).
And that’s not all. His latest endeavor is aimed at getting kids involved in environmentalism. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation needs official shirts, and is sponsoring a t-shirt design contest to get them.
The contest will occur in three phases, and the theme of the first is “creatures.” Kids are invited to create an animal design with a positive message and submit it to the Foundation by September 9. The winning designs will be featured on shirts sold in October at the foundation’s first youth event, EMPOWEResque FL4C (Future Leaders 4 Change), and will also be sold on Cafe Press.
