Travel + Leisure magazine released its annual rank of America's dirtiest cities, and the city of Angeles didn't exactly have a squeaky clean reputation.

In the survey, which asked readers to rate cities' cleanliness based on criteria including air pollution, litter, and parks, Los Angeles ranked number 3.

The magazine cited poor air quality and traffic as a major factor. In another bit of bitter news, Los Angeles placed last for being not-so pedestrian-friendly and in the bottom three for overall quality of life.

Ouch.

But the news was not all bad. LA wasn't in first place. That honor went to New Orleans, which jumped from second on last years list to grab the trash trophy.

Philadelphia came in second. In a surprise move, last year's refuse ruler, New York, dropped to number 5.
