This World Environment Day (WED) we want to celebrate and raise our voice for the voiceless planet we live in.
Started in 1973, World Environment Day is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. WED is the opportunity for each one of us to realize not only the importance of the preservation of the environment but also how important it is for each of us to make a change for good.

This year, UNEP invites you to tweet in favor of World Environment Day using the hashtags #WED and #WorldEnvironmentDay to raise awareness about important environmental concerns like climate change and the increase of sea levels.
Plan your Own World Environment Day
Joining the celebrations gives you an opportunity to share your ideas with the rest. You can check out the activities that are already planned in your area or country or you can do it your way: for example giving the world cleaner air by planting a tree and showing others the benefits of that action is one of the many things you can do to celebrate. Don’t forget that no matter how you celebrate, you’ll be joining thousands of people that want the same thing: a cleaner, greener and better world!
