Eco-friendly actor Mark Ruffalo has been honoured by green campaigners for his contribution to environmental causes.

The star was the toast of the Millennium Awards, which were held in Santa Monica, California on Saturday (05Jun11) by anti-climate change organisation Global Green Usa.

Ruffalo was handed the Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award in recognition of his campaigning to end the use of hydrofracking, a controversial technique which uses chemicals to remove natural gas from rocks.

Ed Begley, Jr. was also honoured at the event with the award for Individual Environmental Leadership, while stars including Orlando Bloom, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michelle Rodriguez turned out to support the cause.
