So many Hollywood actresses feel the pressure to be thin. But what happens when an actress — like vegan Jessica Chastain — is asked by film producers to pack on the pounds?

Chastain needed to gain weight to assume th

e role of buxom beauty Celia Foote in this weekend’s box office topper “The Help.” And she had a veg diet to do so — although most of what she ate will never appear on a Candle Cafe or Millennium menu. The actress recently told E! News, “I had to be soft and curvy, so I ate a lot of soy. …Soy helps you become curvy because it has estrogen in it. So what I would do—and this is really gross—is buy cartons of soy ice scream, microwave it and drink it.”

The crew of “The Help” also helped Chastain keep it veg (and way fatty) throughout the shoot. In a scene where her character was to eat fried chicken, caterers prepared her a faux bird made of a tofu dog wrapped in Tofurkey — which was then breaded and deep fried.

Holy heart attack, Batman!

Upon the completion of the film, Chastain was quick to shed the pounds via a regimen of yoga and healthy vegan eats. Here’s thinking she won’t be touching an ice carton for quite some time…
