In 2011, Kyocera launched a sustainable project for mobile phone packaging and shipping practices that helped prevent the release of more than 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the air we all breath.
Kyocera is one of the most important wireless phone providers in the world. In previous years, their mobile phones were shipped to the US market f rom overseas on a daily basis, releasing large amounts of carbon dioxide with every shipment. Last year, they moved the retail packaging process to the United States, reducing the average number of shipments required by half thus reducing their carbon dioxide emissions greatly.
For their efforts, the company has been honored with the 2012 Environmental Excellence Award from the Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) in the category of Climate Change.
“Kyocera takes great pride in our commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship, and we’re grateful to the IEA for recognizing our efforts,” said Eric Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications Inc.
n addition to this award, Kyocera has also been awarded for its recycling programs in the last 20 years.
Thank you Kyocera for taking care of our planet!
